Does pyTivo support auto-transfers like Tivo Desktop 2.6? I have a Linux server and would like to use it to automatically transfer TV series from one Tivo to another. I can do it now with Tivo Desktop 2.6 by using Auto-Transfers and the new video push capabilities. I have read that you got the video push capabilities working in pyTivo but how about auto-transfers?
Also, do you know of another way to automatically transfer videos from one Tivo to another without having to use the Tivo menu or hack the Tivos? Can this be done using Tivo's HME SDK? |

Currently, push in pyTivo is only by way of an interactive menu. _________________ My pyTivo fork |

| So pyTivo doesn't yet support adding videos to a folder and having them automatically be uploaded to the Tivo? |

Forgive a little ignorant pondering .... I'm not a python coder but I do code .. so I'm approaching this from the generic-how-things-typically-work point of view ...
I can see the interactive menu. It does a fine job of listing the videos in a folder (and listing sub-folders) .. and it has a pull down list which I assume would show all your available TiVos (I only have 1 it could go to) .. and then a "Send to TiVo" button.
What I don't understand is .. everything is there .. its just waiting for someone to click a button. So why not create a cron or scheduled task that does the same thing, but if it sees something in there .. it just simulates pressing that button?
For fine-tuning .. perhaps a configuration to select the name of the TiVo to send it to .. and maybe it would make a datafile to keep track of what it has sent so it doesn't resend it ..
But what .. if anything is stopping some code from just looping through a specified directory and simulating what "Send to TiVo" does?
Just curious... (doubt I'd even use the feature to be honest).. |

Nothing is stopping it. It's just that no one's gotten around to it yet. _________________ My pyTivo fork |

Okay, fair enough. Just making sure it wasn't a technological impediment that I wasn't informed enough to see. |

In a similar vein: I'm brand new to pyTivo, after giving up on Tivo Desktop, and I've been loving it.
My only frustration was that there seemed to be no way to push recordings from computer to Tivo. According to this thread, there is a way, but it involves "the interactive menu."
Here's where my newbieness comes in - what/where is the interactive menu? I've been on the web interface, saw my config and show list on TiVo, but no interactive menu.
Am I missing something basic? |

Add me to the list of people who would like to see this feature added. I'm getting very annoyed without being able to rely on TiVo's TiVoCast to reliably deliver content. I would love to setup my computer to do this since I can't rely on TiVo to deliver content on a regular basis. I know TiVo Desktop Plus can do it - but I really don't want to pay TiVo more money to get around their problems with TiVoCast.
As soon as this feature gets added I'm sure I'll be downloading and using pyTiVo and stop using TiVoCast.

I have started using the pyTivo autotransfer and would like to add an option to T2Sami to ask pyTivo to transfer the files once T2Sami finishes creating its closed caption version. This would allow me to cut one or two steps out of the current proceedure that creates the captioned program in a pyTivo directory but requires the user to request it be transferred through the Tivo menu.
Would you point me in the right direction with respect to sources, etc. I should be looking at to fiqure out if this is possible and how to implement it.
Thanks... |
