Just posting a quick hint, as I didn't find this on a quick search through the forum (note: I also added a note to the good Troubleshooting wiki page).
Having trouble seeing your Tivo or pyTivo server? Make sure the following ports are all open (I took these from the Tivo Community Forum, and they worked for me):
- Port 2190 (UDP): This is the port that pyTivo and your Tivo server both broadcast on to find each other (look in beacon.py if you don't believe me <g>). Make sure, in your firewall, that this port is bi-directionally available (that is, traffic can go from your Tivo to pyTivo on this port, and traffic can go from pyTivo to your Tivo on this port).
- Port 9032 (TCP): This needs to be open for your Tivo to be able to read from pyTivo (which it does via HTTP on this port).
- You may need ports 8080 to 8090 open for TCP from your Tivo. These ports are generally used for plug & play media transfers.
