When I stumbled across pyTivo a few weeks back it literally got me off the fence on jumping on a TiVo HD. I spent a weekend ripping DVDs and now love being able to watch any movie in my collection, listen to my mp3s and view pix. It is the coolest. Much props to Krkeegan et al.
So, today I wanted to see what I needed to xfer a few episodes of Beekman's World from TiVo to my server and stumbled across a thread that referenced t2sami and Galleon. I checked out Galleon - it looks like perhaps it fills in some of the gaps that I've seen in just pulling the videos off my server (the all important image of the video box when scrolling through the list of videos, same w/ disc images for audio, etc.). It doesn't seem as actively supported as pyTivo -but has more window dressing it seems.
Anyway, I thought I'd query the group on what other must have tools for TiVo HD <-> PC integration. Thanks much. |

Galleon development halted a while ago. I use it for the Weather and Music apps (although I am currently investigating Harmonium), but that's about it. I never had good luck with trying to use the Videocasting app as a replacement for what pyTiVo does ... pyTiVo just does a better job, has a smaller footprint, and is being actively developed.
Not sure what you mean about the "image of the video box" though. _________________ pyTiVo on Ubuntu 8.10 |

Oh, you mean like the album art? Interesting ... I knew Galleon would attempt to pull cover art from the internet, but I never needed that since all of my MP3s were already tagged. I didn't know it would do that for videos.
As for other "integration" apps, you might like TiVoPlaylist. That's really the only other Windows app I use. _________________ pyTiVo on Ubuntu 8.10 |
