Hello folks, I'm a total n00b, so please be gentle...

I've followed all of the instructions and I've got it running on my XP box, but I'm getting the following error:

WindowsError: [Error 5] Access is denied

When I run pytivo.py

I've got my pytivo.conf configured as correctly as I can tell, and the share folder has sharing enabled.

The share shows up on my Series 2 TiVo, but no files are accessible. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Lubertdas

As a windows user who is not experienced in Python I highly recommend using the windows installer. http://pytivo.krkeegan.com/viewtopic.php?t=86#578

I can't say for sure but I suspect that you do not have permission to open a socket at 9032?? Or you dont have permission to read a file or execute python. Try running it as an admin and see if that solves it first.

This may not be related at all to your issue, however if re-installing does not help, try rebooting your computer. On occasion, I've noticed this error when you have deleted (video) file and Windows does not completely delete the file because some other process or thread still has the file open. If you try to manually delete the file a second time, Windows complains that it cannot access the file. Trying to access the "deleted" file or even list the contents of a folder through PyTivo results in WindowsError: [Error 5] Access is denied. Rebooting your computer allows the deletion of the file to complete.

I suppose PyTivo could handle this error more graciously, but I see it so infrequently that I have not bothered to try and fix it.

Reneg, thanks for your help but thanks must go to krkeegan, who pointed me in the right direction!

kr, your installer worked magic!

I'm not up and running with PyTiVo, and I have to say it's mighty impressive! It's WAY faster than TiVoToGo!

Thanks so much for all of your help, and please keep up the good work!

Cheers,

LubertDas
