Hi, I have a brand new Tivo HD, literally opened the box and activated it yesterday. I'm trying to get a show to display via pyTivo since I don't have my CableCard yet. And, no love. Any help will be appreciated. I'm running Vista, but am running pyTivo and python as Admin, and have opened the firewall for python.

I can see the "Videos" directory fine on my Tivo. When I go to transfer a video, It says the video will be transferred after previously scheduled recordings have been transferred. However, there are no other previously scheduled recordings. The file appears in the todo list but never shows up in the Now Playing list.

I suspect this is because of the lack of cable cards. The error you get from TiVo means it is not a pyTivo issue, but a TiVo issue.

But, this can happen at times. Normally the recordings just start to transfer a minute or two later.

The only thing I can suggest is that you restart your TiVo. I hate to make such a suggestion but this may be the proper course in this case.


And the "no output file" is normal. That is how we determine duration, frame rate . . . and all that jazz before we load the file. It is not an issue it is to be expected.

A TiVo HD works fine without CableCards. Edit: Oh, duh... This is a brand new TiVo HD, right? So presumably it's running 8.x software. Transfers won't work until it's upgraded to 9.x. (You may also have to enable them on tivo.com, and name your TiVo.)

FYI, It is activated, and the software has been updated -- it is running 9.2a.

As of last night, I had manually connected it to TiVo like 3 times to get the updates... However, it didn't display its name in the system information screen.

And... this morning, it works! I'm guessing some magic happened, it probably connected again or restarted again and now displays its name. And, I can download the videos. yay. Now if the Verizon dude would just get here...
