| Has anyone else noticed this with the newer pytivo releases? A show is transferred you watch the enitre program and then say, you go to watch it again and it starts at the very end. Often times you can't watch it again and have to retransfer it because it restarts so close to the end that the pop-up comes up (asking if you want to delete or keep the show) comes up right away.[/url] |

| Odd, I haven't noticed anything like that. I also don't think we have messed with anything in an area that would cause such an issue in a few weeks. |

| It might not be younger than a few weeks old...It's something I've noticed and isn't really that bothersome because on the few times you want to watch something you already watched you end up just transferring it over again anyway. Also, though, on that note, say you transfer something over...If you go to watch it say 5 minutes after it started transferring it won't start the video at the beginning. It will start it at the area of the video which is currently being transcoded, unlike previous versions of pytivo. So you end up starting to watch the program say 7 minutes into it and you have to rewind to the beginning...Again, not terrible but just noticeable and sometimes annoying----especially if you catch the score of a game later in the game. |

| Wow yeah that really sounds like something on the TiVo side if the resume playing resumes from the current downloaded position. You are not in a beta program are you? |

That is certainly very odd. Has your S2 been upgraded with the new version of tivo software that is reportedly being pushed out now. Just wondering if there might be a bug in there new release. _________________ Download pyTivo

| Well, at least I think it is. I have been using pytivo for the past month or two, but not very heavily. I come back and see all these changes have been made. I believe I've tried each of the newer branches in the past week, and here is what I'm seeing: when I transfer a video, if I choose to start watching now, the tivo puts me at the end of the current downloaded segment instead of the begining of the video. That is, it pauses and I'll be a minute or so into the movie instead of at the begining. I only noticed this behaviour recently. What complicates things is that I got 9.3y on my S3 (the only tivo I have), but don't know when that happened. So now I don't know if this issue was introduced by pytivo, or by 9.3y. Hopefully it will be an issue the wonderful developers here can address in the future. If there is any more info I can supply I'll be glad to help. Don't know if it makes any difference but I am running pytivo on a 32 bit ubuntu server and my transferred videos do not get transcoded, they are vob files ripped from my dvd collection. |

I would think this is a TiVo issue for two reasons:
1. I have 9.2 on my TiVoHD and I don't see this occuring
2. pyTivo just sends the file to the TiVo, it has no ability to control where TiVo chooses to play the file from.
For those with this issue. Does this happen with EVERY file? I am just wondering if there is some oddity in one type of file that causes this. |

I transferred a file and when I went to play it, it was at the very end - not playable at all.
I did transfer the file again, but same result.
I am using latest version.
I am a novice, so please go gently...I have trans. another file and it was totally watchable, I am amazed how it works, and that I got it to work with little effort. |

S2, 9.3... I noted this problem in another thread, but yeah, it's happening with more frequency.
The file/video transfers and finishes, usually pretty quickly in my wired network.
When I start it, it may be 15 minutes in, an hour and 30 minutes in, or one blip from the end.
Weird behavior. Are there logs to display the transfer? |

I've seen the same behavior on my S3. Most of the time it's about 3 to 5 minutes into the video. So I just hit Rewind followed by Advance to get back to the beginning.
If I remember correctly, it's just on first playback. After I finish watching it or rewind to the beginning, re-viewing the recording works correctly. Will have to double check later.
Also, I think that when I remember to send metadata with the video, it doesn't happen. |

Well, what you describe is impossible for me to do since it cues up right at the end, and one can NOT rewind at all.
I hope this is helpful for anyone else who may be experiencing this:
one work around I have discovered (for now) is to use "Save to VCR".
This puts it the file at the beginning somehow. |

Yeah, I've only had it queue up right at the end maybe once or twice on a really short clip.
But I'm getting into the habit of sending metadata will all my video transfers and that seems to prevent it from happening. I need to find a recording I know that it happens on and do more testing. |

If you can get it to happen reproducibly, I might like a copy of that recording. People have been talking about this problem for a while now, but I've never seen it, and I have no idea what's going on. _________________ My pyTivo fork |
