Is there an application similar to Apple's Front Row that could act as an HMO client and allow one to browse through the various TiVos and pyTivo servers on a network using the HMO protocol, and then allow the user to download / watch that video, essentially turning that computer into a Tivo dumb-terminal?
The idea (if you hadn't guessed) is to use my TivoHD and pyTivo as media servers, and cheap low-power hardware as a "Tivo-Lite". There have been many times where my wife and I wanted to watch something in the bedroom (which only has an old Series 1 TiVo) that was recorded on the livingroom TivoHD. Also, I've begun ripping all of my DVDs (a considerable task) and using pyTivo as a media server. While I could easily just mount that folder remotely, it might also be useful to have a low-powered pc as the "Tivo-Lite" pretend that it's a Series 2 and use pyTivo to transcode everything to MPEG2 720x480, which is easier to handle than the h264 that I'm transcoding everything to for space, or 1920i HD that gets recorded off of the networks.
If there isn't such a beast yet, maybe it's time to start brain-storming.
