Yeah I could add that...I will make it an option for the user.
I am looking at the problem. I can reproduce it on my machine...hopefully I can get an update out by tomorrow night. _________________ MetaGenerator

I fixed the problem....it was something stupid I was doing. It should work properly now.
I also got it set to run pyTivo when the manager starts...but I am having trouble getting it to start minimized...
Check it out. _________________ MetaGenerator

It crashed the first time I tried to run it but, I renamed the settings.xml file and then it worked fine with pyTivo in the Program Files directory.
I like the setting to run pyTivo at startup (as well as the ability to view the debug.txt file).
Thanks. |

Give me some more specifics...do you get this when you click the start pytivo button?
Have you moved any of the pyTivo files around inside the pyTivo directory? _________________ MetaGenerator

Sorry, was away for the weekend. When I pressed the Start Pytivo button.
I merely placed your files in my pytivo directory.
Until I upgraded about a month ago for a working FOLDER version, I had pytivo starting as a service (I don't recall the version but it was old). I had gotten some command line/install that made it a service. The new version of pytivo is running only after I click on it and it runs out of a DOS box. I would prefer the SERVICE and have the dos box GONE. I would then use ManageComputer, Services to start/stop the service if need be.
I guess I don't recall how to install it as a service and so your program seemed a likely solution.
Thanks. |

MasterCephus,
I downloaded and am using your pyTiVo Manager running on a Windows 2003 Server. So far it appears to be working as stated. Which I like BTW ... If I may offer some musings however:
1.) Maybe it's my usage with uTorrent, but when I "accidentally" click on the top right "X" I wish it would minimize to the tray rather then closing, or at least give you a prompt of "are you sure?". Maybe add a check box to the settings on how a user would like this option to work.
2.) I noticed after doing a restart through the manager, it showed the service (I'm running pyTivo as a service BTW) as being stopped, then as starting. It never went to a running status. I had to close the manager and re-open it to finally show running as the status.
3.) Maybe use the tray icon as an indicator also ... red = stopped, yellow = starting, green = running. IMO this would be a good quick look for a status update. (After using it for a bit I did notice when shutdown a circle with a red slash is displayed).
4.) Maybe add an option to open the pvTivo.conf file from the manager like the debug file.
All in all though, great utility ... I'll be using whether or not you use my recommendations
Thanks!
