I've been playing around in my video.py file with some ideas and often screwed things up so badly pyTiVo wouldn't even show up on my NPL. It took my quite a while (and a number of TiVo reboots) to figure out what had happened.

So it got me thinking - is there any reason why we can't ALWAYS (conf driven, of course) have a pyTiVo Status share which contains a virtual video file whose info shows the current status (last error, uptime, transfer count, etc.) of the server?

There wouldn't actually have to be a video file behind it (or one of the talented pyTiVo users could make a 10 second pyTiVoLution video or something).

Anyway, that was my idea for this morning. (Wheh, now the pressure's off for th rest of the day!).

Thoughts?
